Intended Use

This kit is used for qualitative detection of herpes simplex virus type 2 nucleic acid in male urethral swab and female cervical swab samples.

Epidemiology

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 (HSV2) is a circular virus synthesized with tegument, capsid, core, and envelope, and contains double-stranded linear DNA. Herpes virus can enter the body through direct contact or sexual contact with skin and mucous membranes, and is divided into primary and recurrent. Reproductive tract infection is mainly caused by HSV2, male patients are manifested as penile ulcers, and female patients are manifested as cervical, vulvar, and vaginal ulcers. The initial infections of genital herpes virus are mostly recessive infections, except for a few local herpes with mucous membranes or skin, most of which have no obvious clinical symptoms. Genital herpes infection has the characteristics of lifelong virus carrying and easy recurrence, and both patients and carriers are the source of infection of the disease. In China, the serological positive rate of HSV2 is about 10.80% to 23.56%. The stage of HSV2 infection can be divided into primary infection and recurrent infection, and about 60% of HSV2 infected patients relapse.
